Love manifests

                                                                           Love manifests

Consumer Christians, Pew warmers, Sunday Christians, Lukewarm Christians. These are some terms that the community use to describe people who call themselves Christians, but are doing the "bare minimum" obligations.

This write-up probably would sound harsh and insensitive. But I was thinking about the different types of "christian workers" and trying to find answers to these questions:
1. If we are saved by faith alone, why do we need to serve hard in church?
2. If I sincerely believe in Jesus, but not serving in church, am I still saved?
3. Is serving in church, a calling for everyone?

And so.. while I was pondering about that, 2 words came to mind. "LOVE MANIFESTS". Then I realise that if we truly love God, our love for Him will manifest!

There is no way that you would be satisfied with just going to church alone. You would want to be with other fellow believers, you would want to contribute to the church, you would want to defend those that God has soft spot for (aka the orphans, foreigners, widows). You will surely want to do something for God. It is only natural to react that way.

For those married couple, because of their love for each other, they would want to make each other happy by doing something special for them. For parents, they would do literally anything for their children. People would not sit there, do nothing for their loved ones. They would not do the bare minimum, just plainly fulfilling their parental and marital obligations. (well some people do that, but let's not go there). In general, we would go the extra mile to do something for the people we love. We do not mind to be inconvenienced, we do not mind sacrificing our own time, to help the people we love.

And so.. while in theory it is true that if you sincerely love God, believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and you do not do anything church related, you will go to heaven. But in practicality, if you are an abled person, you will definitely be doing something for God, be it in church or in community.

There are exceptions of course. You might be abled, but you might be in a life situations where you cannot serve. The bottom line is this: you will always be thinking about pleasing God. You will always be thinking how you can serve God in your capacity, at whatever life situations you are in. We serve God in various ways, and some is as subtle as loving our in-laws, or helping an elderly cross a busy zebra-crossing.

No matter what you are going through, always draw near to God. He will tell you what He wants you to do, and how you can do it.

In conclusion, every Christians who truly love God, will do something for God and His people, one way or another.
