My #ROTD Reflection - Habakkuk 1
Reading of the day : Habakkuk 1
Habakkuk's complaint resonates in all of us. We too long to ask God, why is there suffering? Why the children or the innocents die of violent death? Why the wicked flourish and good people die?
Quoting from Habakkuk 1:1-4 ....
1The oracle which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
2How long, O Lord, will I call for help,
And You will not hear?
I cry out to You, “Violence!”
Yet You do not save.
3Why do You make me see iniquity,
And cause me to look on wickedness?
Yes, destruction and violence are before me;
Strife exists and contention arises.
4Therefore the law is ignored
And justice is never upheld.
For the wicked surround the righteous;
Therefore justice comes out perverted.
These issue had been happening since thousands years ago. And it is still happening now. I wonder, were there more violence than today? I believe that humans are capable in becoming more wicked as we evolved. Humans are able to think of ways to trap other humans. Now, probably violence is lesser compared to the past, but there are more white-collar crimes.
Can humans solve what we created? I don't think it will happen.. only God can do something about it. Christians or not, we long for the day when all these stop. As Christians, we know how the story ends. But in the meantime, we too like Habakkuk, would ask God "why are there violence and You are not stopping it??"
We trust in our LORD's good plan and I personally trust that it breaks God's heart, even more than it breaks ours, to see the violence among His creations and the destructions humans do to His beautiful creation.
