An Epiphany
Today I was reading a Devotional by Bishop T.D. Jakes and I had a realization of truth. This truth comes at me at such a power that I felt a crush in my heart. The truth felt so heavy, in a good way.
He was talking about how our life are orchestrated by God so that we can grow and bless others. When I was reading that, I come to realise that all the experiences that I went through, all the spiritual experiences that I experienced, all the theology classes that I went, all the readings on bible commentary that I did, the spiritual gifts that God has blessed me with, are not for ME and definitely not so that I can be a better Christian and go to Heaven. ALL of those are for OTHERS! God has input ALL those the above is for me to DISPENSE it to the world, starting from the people near me. None of it is for me! Dispense it!
Bishop Jakes wrote that "It is a fact that seeds are meant to be covered to die." I am that seed, and to be covered means that I have to decrease, in fact, I have to be gone! And when I "die", I will grow into a plant and give out more seeds.
"The proverbial death of what you are trying to keep alive will enrich the growth and lives of others."
Today I learned that my life is not mine and it is not for me. My life is for others. I live so that others can find life. I live so that I can help others and point them to the path of life. That is my purpose in life.
The blessings from God is not for me to feel good, it is not for me to receive praises from others because I have done this and that, It is not for me to be looked up to by others because I can hear from God, or because God at times shows me the future. All those is for me to serve others.
I thank God for speaking to me, and to teach me this truth. I pray that I will remember today, until the day I die. Humans tend to forget God's teaching when we experienced good times. I too afraid that I will forget this day, when my prayers are all answered, when my family has come to salvation or when I reach a high spiritual level. I pray that God will remind me daily, remind me every hour that I live for God and for others.
