The source of eternal life

I am always intrigued by how Catholics and Protestant are considered as two different religions, instead of one religion different denominations. Martin Luther stated that humans are saved by faith alone. While Roman Catholics believed that Salvation is attained by Grace, Baptism and Good works. These three has to be done in order for us to be saved.  Yesterday this thought came to my mind. It doesn't matter who believe what or how, what matters is BOTH Catholics and Protestants are saved! Both of us attained salvation. We are saved! We are baptised in the name of Christ, we believed in the name of Christ.  Look at this : Acts 16:30-31  “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” My dear brothers and sisters from the Roman Catholic church, do you believe in Jesus Christ? I am sure you do. Do I, a Protestant believe in Jesus Christ, oh yes! So do that make us saved in the...

Why I left the Catholic Church. A personal conversion story.

This is my personal story on why I converted to Protestantism. I was baptised in a Catholic Church when I was 4 months old. People call us "Cradle Catholic". My mother is a Catholic, my dad is a Buddhist until today. I never ever deter to any other gods. I always knew that Jesus is God. I went to Catholic Church on and off. When I came to Singapore, I also went to Catholic Church. I was just a Sunday Church goer. I did not get involve in any of their activities. It is not that I do not want to. I want to join, I actually desire to join Church activities. I actually love to be involved in Church. But somehow, it just didn't happen. As long as I can remember, there was no one from the Church who reached out to me, asking me to join their activities or their cell group. There is no connection, no personal touch. All of us go to church to merely fulfil our religious obligation. When I went to Polytechnic, I joined Navigators for my CCA. Which was recommended by my mothe...

Why some Christians "backslide"?

Why didn't God reward my friend's faithfulness for going to Church regularly for 10 years? Why wasn't God real in my friend's life? To her, He was just a distant Deity that didn't speak, didn't transform her life. My friend couldn't feel God, she didn't find God. Her faithful deeds were meaningless and unrewarded. And now, she doesn't believe in God. She believes that everyone is a god. The universe is god. Her brother turned Atheist. Personally, I think she is too, but she doesn't label herself as that. There are a couple more stories that I heard, similar to this. Many Christians faithfully go to Sunday service, serves in Church, go to whatever prayer meetings that the Church offers, but there will be a time when they feel they had enough of this, and decided to leave church for good. They feel that God is not real, they couldn't feel God. So I wonder, why are there sooo many faithful Christians, hardworking Christians that backslided? ...

Walking with God

Christianity is full of ambiguous instructions; "you have to be filled with the Spirit", "you must learn how to discern the Spirit", "fix your eyes on Jesus", "put Jesus first", etc.... Do you wish we have clearer instructions to follow? An instruction that we can fully understand. Well.. I am going to attempt it today. Here goes... WALKING WITH GOD means: 1. Obey the Ten Commandments : Click here  for the Bible passage     I. Do not worship other gods.     II. Do not use the Lord's name in vain (respect God's name)     III. Keep the Sabbath holy (it means, "take a break! for goodness' sake)     IV. Honor your father and mother.     V. Do not murder     VI. Do not commit adultery     VII. Do not steal     VIII. Do not give false testimony against others (do not lie)     IX. Do not covet other people's spouse     X. Do not covet other people's belongings Note: This is...
