A Blank Paper
I was a cradle Catholic and recently converted to Protestant. My parents have been against Protestantism since I can remember. My mom is a Catholic but she despised Christians as much as my dad who is a Buddhist. When I announced to them that I am getting baptised into Protestant church, they were unhappy. Unhappy is an understatement. But not to the extent until they are furious. But my mom would be making provoking remarks whenever she has the chance. My dad commented that I am like a piece of blank paper, because I believe whatever people tell me.
I felt hurt but a few minutes later, there was this impression in my heart that says "That is why God use me!" As a Christian, my desire is to be a part of God's plan. And being a blank paper, I allow God to write His words and plans in my life. All of us have our burdens, worries, past baggages. We know that our Lord is not someone who forces Himself into our lives. He will write as much as we give Him the space. The empty our paper is, the more space God can write His words into our hearts.
The problem is that we continuously writing things in our paper.. writing things that are not of God. Our busyness, worries, temptations will creep into our lives. The satan will do anything to pull us apart from God. The Holy Spirit is like the "eraser". We, as human as we are, will keep writing things on our "paper". We have to ask the Holy Spirit daily to erase those writings that are not from God. And only the Holy Spirit can erase our writings. That is why it is important for us to ask our Lord to fill us up with the Holy Spirit to empower us to carry on God's work in our daily lives.
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
~ Matthew 4:4
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for giving us a purpose in life. My desire is to be a part of Your plan. Fill us with Your Spirit daily that we will be able to carry out Your calling for us. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!
