Exodus 15

When I read Exodus 15:22-25, I learned that God wants us to come to Him in times of trouble. God knows everything. God knows what the Israelite went through in the desert. Why didn't God automatically provide water when they couldn't find any? Why God had to wait until they ask for water? And lastly, what strikes me about this passage is that, why didn't the Israelite asked for water after one day not being able to find any? Fast forward to today, we too expect God to automatically pull us out of trouble. We assume that since God knows what is happening, He would have saved us. But in actual fact, God wants us to ASK! By asking, it shows humility, it shows dependence on God. We are attributed with humanly wisdom and capabilities. But we are not expected to act beyond our capabilities. Not that we are not to try. If humans does not try to expand our capabilities, we won't have all this technology. What I am trying to say is that there are certain things that we know fo...

Once saved always saved....

In Christian circles, there is this debate "Once saved always saved", or is it? What do you think? When you accept Jesus Christ, you believed you are saved right? And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved ~ Joel 2:32 Do you believe that you are forever saved? That means once your name is written in the Book of Life, it will never ever be blotted out? Can you lose your salvation?? Personally, I believe, YES YOU CAN LOSE YOUR SALVATION. Why I think that? It is an epiphany I received a couple of days ago. The book of Exodus talked about the journey of the Israelite to, supposedly their "Heaven". So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey ~Exodus 3:8 At this point when God made this statement, the Israelite were "saved" (in today's context). They were scheduled to be on their way to the Promised L...

The Mark of a True Christian

There are "labels" attached to those who proclaim themselves to be a Christian. The labels that I am writing about today are those vague ones. I have difficulty in putting it into words as I am writing this. So I am just going to jump into the point.  The most obvious one is the WEALTH label.  We proclaim that God always provides. But there are Christians who get laid off from their jobs, who cannot find a job after so many months, who does not have abundant money. There are who stay in an expensive house, and there are some who stay in a one-bedroom apartment, and so on.  Does it mean that those who are "poor" compared to the rich ones, are less Christian? less blessed? less favoured? I think it is difficult to comprehend to understand why God does not give abundant wealth to those who are more obedient to God, compared to others. I myself ask God that question.  But if I were to try to understand this from God's perspective (not that I can understand fu...
